WHITE FRIDAY 2014: Souq.com announces its deals, and launches sales preview on mobile app today

‘Black Friday’, now coined ‘White Friday’ by Souq.com, has officially hit the Middle East, as Souq.com, the region’s largest online retailer, releases a sneak peak of some of the White Friday deals that will be on offer on its site on the 27th and 28th November, and offers access to only a few of these deals to its mobile app users.

 The online retailer has released deals on products from the likes of Apple, Samsung, Sony, LG, Huawei, Microsoft, Nokia Lumia, Mini from AGMC, Lenovo, Motorola, Infinix, InnJoo, Archos, Du, Etisalat, and Intel Ctroniq. The deal preview can be viewed here: http://bit.ly/SouqWhiteFriday.

But consumers don’t have to wait until tomorrow to get access to these deals. In a unique partnership with PepsiCo, Souq.com has launched a White Friday sales preview, which will be only accessible exclusively through the souq.com mobile app starting today. The partnership has been created in a bid to tap into the world-leading smartphone penetration that this region has.

Ronaldo Mouchawar, CEO & Co-Founder of Souq.com says “Mobile is booming in this region, and in the UAE, we have the highest smartphone penetration in the world, with almost three smartphones per person. On Souq.com, we see a much higher conversion rate on mobile than desktop, and we’ve launched this mobile preview with Pepsi in a bid to reward our mobile consumer.”

Over the course of the three day White Friday sales period, Souq.com is expecting 10 million visits, and is offering more than 250,000 items on a special discount for this event.

Other than the product deals on offer, Souq.com has developed even more ways to provide value to its consumers during White Friday. Through an exclusive partnership with MasterCard, consumers who make a purchase using their MasterCard credit card will receive a further 15% off all deals. 

Mouchawar says: “During White Friday, we will of course still be offering Cash On Delivery; COD currently accounts for over 70% of payments on our site. However, we are seeing a shift towards credit card usage, as consumers in this region are starting to become more comfortable with online payments. We’ve developed the partnership with MasterCard to further shift the needle towards credit card payments online”.
