Dubai Media City Launches New Live Show DMC Amplify

Regular series will shine a spotlight on creative talent, bringing new voices, sights and sounds to Dubai and the UAE

Radio star Big Hass to kick off DMC Amplify with Saudi Arabia’s hottest hip-hop artist Molham next month

Dubai Media City, the region’s largest community dedicated to the media industry, has launched a new live show called DMC Amplify to promote local artists, share powerful stories and engage the community.

The digital series will feature hard-hitting talks and live performances from emerging artists, musicians and poets that will be beamed across the nation on Facebook and YouTube Live.

Local music legend Big Hass, who changed the face of the region’s industry after hosting Saudi Arabia’s first hip-hop radio show, will interview a new person every month. He will be joined at the first session by up-and-coming rapper Molham, known for his intelligent Arabic-English wordplay.

Shot at startup incubator in5 at Dubai Production City, the first episode will go live on Friday 2 October.

Majed Al Suwaidi, Managing Director of Dubai Media City, said: “Shining a light on promising new artists breaking through the region’s multibillion-dollar creative industry is something that everyone at our community cares strongly about. For close to two decades, we’ve endeavoured to showcase emerging talent and provide a platform for them to reach a bigger audience through an action-packed roster of annual events. DMC Amplify is a natural extension of this and we’re delighted to see it take flight.”

Big Hass added: “Working with Dubai Media City has a been a blessing because it’s always shown tremendous love and support to the UAE’s creative community. We all have a duty to support and amplify the noise around local artists and that’s why our collaboration is so important. This exciting new series will bring together amazing people with real stories to share about their struggles and successes. I can’t wait to get started.”

Dubai Media City has a long-running track record of supporting new and upcoming artists, musicians and creatives through major initiatives, events and competitions such as Dubai Lynx. Local artist Rami Afifi was even commissioned to design the eye-catching street art mural that runs adjacent to Al Falak Street. The colourful artwork has immortalised the diverse collection of people working in the region’s largest media community.

Amid the COVID-19 pandemic, the Jam at Home series was launched. It was an pandemic-appropriate evolution of Dubai Media City’s popular Thursday Lunch Jams initiative, which offered community members an entertaining experience during lunch break in a bid to boost productivity and minimise workplace stress.

Dubai Media City has always been a popular destination for live events. One of its major attractions is the award-winning amphitheatre that hosts everything from music concerts to food festivals. Earlier this year, it also welcomed Lionel Ritchie, Snow Patrol, award-winning rapper Stormzy and world-famous DJ Martin Garrix to perform at big-ticket shows such as Emirates Airline Dubai Jazz and Redfest DXB.
