OMD shines at the Effie MENA 2015

Wins most effective media agency title, Grand Prix and nine trophies  

At the recently staged Effie MENA awards, OMD demonstrated once again its commitment to marketing effectiveness. Its offices in the UAE, Egypt and Algeria collectively won 10 trophies, including the prestigious Grand Prix, three Gold, two Silver and four Bronze awards.

The festival, which celebrates marketing effectiveness in MENA, saw OMD UAE collect six awards, resulting in the agency also being named the Most Effective Media Agency of the Year in 2015.

Several campaigns were particularly successful this year, starting with OMD Egypt’s “Sting Launch Campaign” for PepsiCo, which won the coveted Grand Prix as well as Gold in the Best Youth Marketing Campaign category. The Cairo office won a second Gold for their work on Chipsy’s “90 Million Smiles” campaign in the Brand Experience category, while OMD UAE picked up the network’s third Gold for their work on the “7Up Wall of Music” activation in the Food & Beverage – FMCG category. The same campaign also collected one of the agency’s two Silver trophies for Single Media Company Activation, with HP’s “Bend the Rules” campaign receiving the second in the Computers & Electronics category.

OMD Algeria won their first Effie award with a Bronze for Renault’s “Made in Algeria” campaign, while OMD UAE’s work for Persil, DAC and Nivea was also recognized with a further three Bronze trophies. The collective success of the regional offices made OMD MENA the most awarded media network at this year’s event, while OMD UAE’s performance alone resulted in the highest number of awards to be received by any media network.

“Effectiveness runs deep in our group and it certainly is something our clients value in us,” Elie Khouri, CEO of Omnicom Media Group MENA, explained. “This makes the Effie MENA Awards a key validation of our work and these trophies are another result for our awarded and shortlisted teams and clients to celebrate. We look at these as an inspiration and motivation to produce even more effective work for our clients.”

 At the 2014 Effie MENA Awards, OMD received a total of seven awards, again the most by any media network.
