120+ business leaders, tweeps and media correspondents at laugh a minute event
Naranj Restaurant and leading global online food delivery marketplace hellofood paid tribute to the festive season with a record breaking New Year’s celebration for tweeps, media personalities, bloggers and Amman’s business leaders.
The festivities, hosted by stand-up comedians Mahmoud Darwazeh and Nadeem Almasri, were held at Naranj restaurant in Amman’s Abdoun residential area. The select audience, invited via hand-designed personalised invites, numbered over 120.
Laugh out loud stand-up comedy sets by Darwazeh and Almasri set the tone for an evening that was as much about networking as chuckles and entertainment. Some of the fun was culinary themed, with guests being invited to guess the ingredients in Naranj’s famous dishes. Attendees with the keenest taste buds walked away with prizes.
Commenting on the night, hellofood Middle East’s Managing Director Beschir Hussain said, “We are delighted at the turnout at hellofood and Naranj’s new year’s party. We believe in community, and it is fantastic to be able to spend this special time of the year with our friends, followers, colleagues, and social media audiences. We look forward to a prosperous and successful new year for all.”
Social media threw open the fun to a wider audience. Trivia questions were sent out every 20 minutes during the event. The end of the night saw social media influencers vie for the grand prize of a trip for two to the Dead Sea, counting on their followers to tweet them the correct answer to a question about hellofood. The social media revelry was tagged with the hashtag #NHF2015, which quickly became the most trending hashtag in Jordan with nearly 1500 tweets and the event receiving around 1700 in total.
“hellofood’s success is due to the loyalty shown to us by our community and customers, many of whom have heard of us through the power of social media. It was only fitting that we give something back. By partnering with Naranj Restaurant, we shared prizes, holiday trips and laughs galore; the night was a way of thanking our friends, and celebrating the festive season. It is a natural product of the strength of our community – both in social media and with our partners like Naranj – that this event became the largest of its kind in Jordan” Hussain concluded.
