UAE-based industries are playing a leading role in employing women and advancing capacity development agendas among women, said H.E. Ali Majed Al Mansoori at the UAE Pavilion at Hannover Messe, ahead of the WoMenPower conference.
WoMenPower is an annual career conference at Hannover Messe that is dedicated to discussing the latest trends regarding women in sectors related to industry, manufacturing and business. The event, which will attract more than 1,400 participants throughout Friday, 28 April, and focusses on recognising exceptional achievements by women in STEM fields and professions.
Speaking to visitors of the Pavilion ahead of the event, H.E. Al Mansoori, Chairman of the Department of Economic Development – Abu Dhabi, told of the UAE’s leading regional role in progressing women’s representation in the national industrial workforce and related sectors.
H.E. Al Mansoori said: “Women’s active participation in economic and industrial landscapes is a crucial success factor that can positively impact growth and socio-economic development rates on a significant scale. In the UAE, we are blessed with a leadership that consistently drives women enablement to support women realising their potential in the public sphere.
“Our founding father, Sheikh Zayed Al Nahyan, said that women constitute half of society, and that a country aspiring to build itself should not keep them in the darkness of illiteracy,” he noted. H.E. Al Mansoori also cited Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum as saying: “We have exceeded the phase of empowering women to the phase of empowering the society through women.”
Strata Manufacturing, wholly owned by Mubadala Development Company, is also exhibiting under the UAE Pavilion at Hannover Messe, and highlighted its latest figures for employment of women throughout the company.
UAE nationals constitute 51% of Strata’s workforce, and 86% of nationals employed are women. Meanwhile, almost 50% of Strata’s team leaders are Emirati women, and almost 40% of team supervisors are female nationals.
Strata Manufacturing PJSC (STRATA) is a composite aero-structures manufacturing facility based in Al Ain, United Arab Emirates. Established in 2009, with production beginning in 2010, Strata has partnerships with the world’s leading aircraft manufacturers, Airbus and Boeing, as well as a supplier to Leonardo-Finmeccanica Aero-structures Division, FACC AG, SAAB and S.A.B.C.A.
“The active role of women in advanced fields and industries has been achievable thanks to the support and guidance of the country’s leadership, under which we will continue striving to empower women through specific initiatives and programmes,” continued H.E. Ali Majed Al Mansoori.
Hannover Messe concludes activities tomorrow, Friday April 28. Throughout the week, 31 government entities and private sector organisations have exhibited to a large number of international delegates, businesses and visitors. A total of 250,000 visitors attend the annual event, which is the largest industrial technology and manufacturing trade show in the world.
