Géant Increases UAE Retail Footprint

10,000 Sq. Mt. Géant Hypermarket a welcome commodity for communities including Mirdif, Silicon Oasis and International City

Géant, the fifth largest hypermarket chain in the world and one of the most dominant brands in the food retail sector in the Middle East, has just opened its eighth hypermarket in GCC.

The fourth of its kind in UAE, the new Géant Hypermarket will service communities including Mirdif, Silicon Oasis and International City in addition to Al Warqa, Nad Al Hammar, Al Rashidiya.

Géant operates four formats; the hypermarket, supermarket, neighbourhood and city store and opened its first GCC store in Bahrain in 2001 with the first Géant Hypermarket opening in Dubai in 2005. For the past decade the retailer has increased its market share with steady growth year on year, increasing its number of stores across the region.

Speaking about the new store launch in Dragon Mart 2, Mark Anthony Lack, Chief Operating Officer, Géant Middle East said: “Our journey with the Géant brand has reached an important milestone today with the launch of our fourth Hypermarket in the UAE. This is a key growth market for Géant and we have invested heavily to ensure that we are present in the right locations, with the right people at the helm, trained in the correct way to deal with our large customer base and given opportunities themselves for growth and development.”

He continued: “We chose the location here at Dragon Mart 2 to ensure we are strategically placed to serve the heavily populated neighbourhoods of Silicon Oasis and International City to name just a few, and we look forward to welcoming our new customers to the store.”

The Géant Hypermarket in Dragon Mart 2 will feature a wide selection of groceries at great prices, with over 65,000 unique products on offer including daily deliveries of fresh fruit and vegetables from local and international producers.  Géant prides itself on offering the choicest cuts of meat, including organic and locally produced meat, in its extensive butchery, as well as a selection of cheese and cold-cuts.

The retail brand will continue its expansion in the GCC with plans well underway to open a hypermarket in Fujairah, UAE and in Wadi Al Alsail Mall in Bahrain in the coming months.
