Mr. Can Göktaş has been appointed the new General Manager of The Ritz-Carlton, Istanbul. For Mr. Göktaş it is a welcome return to the hotel — he played a key role in the opening of The Ritz-Carlton, Istanbul in 2001 as the hotel’s Director of Sales and Marketing, a position he held for several years.
“This hotel with its extraordinary views over the Bosphorus holds very special memories for me. It is an honor to return as the General Manager of such a significant Istanbul landmark,” Mr. Göktaş said.
“This is an exceptional hotel with a wonderful reputation and a wonderful team. I am looking forward to building on the success The Ritz-Carlton, Istanbul has enjoyed over the past 14 years.”
Mr. Göktaş who took over as General Manager on July 1st has had a glittering career in hospitality. Prior to his new appointment, he held high-level executive positions with Kempinski Hotels before becoming the company’s Regional Director of Sales for Turkey & Southern Europe.
During his time with Kempinski he was presented with the prestigious CEO Award for his outstanding contribution to performance in 2013 and achieved the company’s Best Sales Award for the largest percentage increase in revenue in 2012.
Mr. Göktaş started his career in hospitality with Divan Hotels and Swissôtel The Bosphorus in Istanbul after graduating from Bosphorus University with a degree in Tourism and Hotel Management in 1996.
In 2014 he completed his Master of Business of Administration from NEOMA Business School in Paris where he specialized in luxury brand marketing. Mr. Göktaş is married with two children and an active member of the American Association of Turkish Businessmen, the Turkish Indian Tourism Council and Chaîne des Rôtisseurs.
