Small businesses are hiring, larger corporations are hiring and job seekers are taking advantage. Even employees who report they are satisfied with their current job are looking to find greener pastures, and that means businesses need to be ready to find even more workers.
According to a new study out from Jobvite the on-the-way-to-recovery economy is influencing employees to look for better opportunities – even if they are currently satisfied with their work.
“Now more than ever, we’re seeing job seekers take control of their search for employment–using mobile devices to look for work from just about anywhere, leveraging social networks to find opportunities, and basing offer acceptance on the things that matter most to them, such as compensation and work/life balance. Other interesting findings touch on trends in job tenure, reasons for leaving employment, and honesty on social media,” was written in the report.
Some interesting takeaways from the report include:
•45% of job seekers say they are ‘satisfied’ with their current position but open to new opportunities
•50% of all employed workers surveyed say their current position is a stepping stone
•71% of 18-29 year olds say their position is a stepping stone
•36% of Millennials look for new jobs every 1-3 years
•38% of employees use mobile to look for new jobs
•32% say they leave positions because of compensation
“Over a quarter of job seekers view their current position as a stepping-stone, another indicator that people see their jobs as a growth experience rather than an endgame,” write the report authors. “Money talks: it’s the most influential factor both in deciding to leave a job and in choosing a new one.”
