MediaCom names new EMEA leaders

Costin Mihaila and Kate Rowlinson appointed joint Managing Directors

MediaCom has named two key executives to lead its EMEA team alongside Chief Executive Nick Lawson.

Costin Mihaila, formerly CEO for Central and Eastern Europe, and Kate Rowlinson, formerly New Business and Marketing Director for EMEA, have been named as joint Managing Directors based in London.

Costin, who has led MediaCom’s teams in Central and Eastern Europe since 2011, will be responsible for sharing his expertise in supporting clients as well as identifying and implementing best practice on market integration. He will also look to develop new commercial opportunities across the whole region as well as overseeing key regional accounts.

Costin joined MediaCom in 2007 as EMEA Client Service Director, working with a variety of clients including Procter & Gamble and Mars, before focusing on Central and Eastern Europe from 2011. He also added Turkey to his remit in 2012. He previously worked at Initiative, where he held global and regional client leadership roles.

Kate, who returned to MediaCom in 2011 having started her career at the agency, will continue to lead MediaCom’s new business and marketing responsibilities and also manage the roll-out of MediaCom’s unique 20|20 Connections planning system across the region. She will work alongside the heads of the EMEA Specialist Function Units, such as Business Science and Insight, to continue to develop MediaCom’s service portfolio across the region.

Kate was previously Head of Strategy at Carat UK and has also worked at PHD. Her client experience ranges from Diageo and Renault to COI and Santander. Since she returned to MediaCom, the agency has won in excess of $US3.5bn of new business across the region including Sony, Ebay and Danone. In 2013, she was selected to join WPP’s exclusive X-Factor leadership programme, designed to recognise high-performing female leaders from across the group.

The changes are effective immediately and are designed to ensure the agency continues to develop the services it offers to both regional and multi-market clients, as well as providing best-in-class thinking in every country.

Both Costin and Kate will report to Nick Lawson.
