INMA Suspends In-Person Events, Launches Virtual Initiatives

As the ripple effects of COVID-19 continue to be felt at media companies and society at large, we at the International News Media Association (INMA) have decided to indefinitely suspend in-person conferences and events.

What INMA is doing next

At the same time, INMA is quickly re-directing its attention to:

Virtual World Congress: Our just-announced Virtual World Congress focusing on “Re-Thinking News Media in the Age of Coronavirus” (May 5-28).

Master Classes: Regular online master classes on vitally important subjects such as digital subscriber retention and the third-party cookie road map.

Water Cooler chats: “Virtual water cooler” chats to connect peers – some regional, some global, all interactive. We’re working to move this from concept to reality.

COVID-19 just-in-time awards category: A just-in-time Global Media Awards category on positive initiatives related to COVID-19. Entries are already coming in (deadline Thursday, April 30).

Webinar expansion: Expanding our weekly Webinar series to two times per week (occasionally three), segmenting by subject and geography. In the last two weeks alone, more than 750 members participated in our Webinars.

Daily content: Beefing up our daily content offering, bringing you ideas and inspirations from around the world. Like you, our traffic has skyrocketed.

INMA Knows: Spurred by COVID-19, we accelerated a long-term distillation project called “INMA Knows.” We will launch additional subjects soon.

Coronavirus pop-up newsletter: We have created a pop-up newsletter that curates our coronavirus coverage. Sign up here if you’re interested.

We are working on additional initiatives (many coming from requests by INMA members), which we will announce in the weeks and months ahead.
