Cresta Awards issue call for entries

The Cresta Awards, which honor an absolute standard of creative excellence in international advertising and marketing communications since 1993, has issued the call for entries in its 23rd worldwide competition.  

Creative Standards International, the Cresta Awards is pleased to announce its selection for 2015 Jury President, Mr. Ami Hasan, Chairman, Perfect Fools and hasan & partners, Helsinki, Stockholm, Amsterdam.  Mr. Hasan, a true entrepreneur, started and built several agencies and later sold them to international holding companies. He together with his partners bought hasan & partners back from IPG less than four years ago. The agency was then 30 people and now they have five companies in three countries and a headcount of 150.  As well as receiving many industry awards, Ami has served as juror on a numerous awards shows including twice in Cannes Lions, twice in Clio Awards and twice in The Cup of International Advertising. He has been jury president in Eurobest, Moscow International, Golden Drum and Golden Hammer. He has been a permanent member of the Cresta Executive Jury since 2005.

Upon his acceptance of the Cresta Grand Jury presidency, Mr. Hasan said… “It’s all about the work! It’s not about crowded beaches and azure coloured sea. It’s not about network politics or holding company big shots passing the queue you are standing in. It’s not about over 30€ gin & tonics in an overcrowded bar and not about waiting over 30 minutes for a beer on the sidewalk of another bar. It’s not about nitpickily arranged portions at Michelin starred restaurants or paying €1.000 a night for a tiny hotel room . It’s not even about funny speeches by Hollywood superstars. It’s not about waiting for hours to get to an awards ceremony that will also take hours to end. It’s about the work! It’s Cresta and it’s only about creative standards. Get your work in front the Grand Jury of 84 respected jurors from 43 countries. They will not discuss it, they will vote on it. The bar is set high. If it wins, you will be noticed. By everybody.” 

All entries will be screened by several worldwide juries, who will compile a short-list of finalists that will be submitted to an International Grand Jury of expert creative directors, film specialists and graphic artists.  Short-listed interactive entries will be judged by a separate Grand Jury of interactive experts.  Work will be judged on originality of the creative idea and quality of its execution (except in the Crafts & Design competitions where only executional quality is taken into consideration).  

Of the seven Grand Prix’s which were awarded in 2014, taking the honors in the TV/Cinema/Online Film, Branded Entertainment and the Craft (Best Direction) competitions was Forsman & Bodenfors, Gothenburg for its “The Epica Split” campaign for Volvo.  Forsman & Bodenfors “Live Test Series & The Chase 360°” for client Volvo won the Integrated Campaigns Grand Prix. The Promotions & Incentives Grand Prix was won by HEIMAT, Berlin for their client Hornbach, titled, “The Hornbach Hammer”.  Åkestam Holst, Stockholm won the Grand Prix in the Outdoor competition for Apotek Hjartat, titled, “Blowing in the Wind”.  And, Hakuhodo, Tokyo won the Grand Prix in the Ambient Media Competition for their client, Inakadate Village, titled, “Rice-Code”.  

The 2014 Cresta Awards received more than 3,400 entries from 50 countries.  Of those, 77 entries from 17 countries were winners.  Network of the year honors went to Havas Worldwide and agency of the year to Forsman & Bodenfors, Gothenburg.

On Monday, 12 October 2015, the ‘winners gallery’ for the coveted Grand Prix, Gold, Silver and Bronze statuettes will be released in the form of a micro-site designed for all computer and mobile devices via (www.cresta-awards.com/2015). 

The Cresta Awards are open to all advertising agencies, advertisers, studios, and production companies worldwide. Both national and international campaigns may compete. All advertising and marketing communications used since 1 January 2014 are eligible as entries into the following competitions: TV/Cinema/Online Film, Press, Outdoor, Radio, Ambient Media, Interactive, Direct Marketing, Integrated Campaigns, Promotions & Incentives, Design, Crafts and Branded Entertainment.   

The deadline for entries is Friday 6 March 2015. All work must be submitted online at www.cresta-awards.com/registration.
