The excitement is two-fold for UAE fans as the UAE national team are so close to booking a ticket to play at the much-anticipated FIFA World Cup later this year in Qatar. The last time these two teams met was in 2019 at the AFC Asian Cup Competition where the UAE national team won. From Asia, Iran, South Korea, Japan and Saudi Arabia have already qualified.
For the UAE national team to qualify for a spot at the FIFA World Cup 2022, they must beat Australia and then face Peru on June 13 in Doha, Qatar in a crucial intercontinental play-off that will decide who will book a spot to play at the World’s biggest football stage – FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022. If the UAE national team wins in both play-off matches, they will be placed in Group D with the current world champions France, Denmark, and Tunisia.
