New York Festivals® TV & Film Awards competition is open for entries.
New York Festivals Television & Film Awards celebrates storytelling from around the globe and honors content creators whose compelling programs reach international audiences. The competition’s 63-year legacy provides a showcase of exceptional work across all platforms from broadcast to streaming.
Each year, Rose Anderson, NYF’s VP/Executive Director of the TV & Film Awards carefully evaluates the competition’s category roster and updates the category roster to provide the most current categories to reflect the innovative content produced in today’s Television & Film industry
“In a year marked by disruption of every kind, NYF is implementing additional categories for social justice in every genre. These ten categories spotlight storytellers who are using all of their creativity to engage with their audiences on this critical topic,” said Rose Anderson. “New categories include: Best Social Justice Report, Social Justice Reporting, Social Justice Sports Coverage, Social Justice Documentary, Social Justice Entertainment Programs, Social Justice Entertainment Special, Social Justice Promotion, Social Justice Streaming, Social Justice Corporate, and Social Justice Student Content.”

The 2021 TV & Film Awards Storytellers Gala will take place at the annual NAB Show in Las Vegas on April 13, 2021. 2021 marks the 11th year of NYF’s strategic partnership with NAB Show. TV & Film Award winners have access to the multi-day event which is the world’s largest media entertainment marketplace. NAB Show will present the TV & Film Awards to the nearly 100K attendees from 165 countries and 1,700 exhibitors, all with a combined purchasing power of $20.5 billion bringing a high level of prominence, interest, and recognition to all the competition’s participants.
2020 Grand Awards were: “Fleabag – Series 2” – Best Writing (Two Brothers Pictures/BBC Three/ Amazon Prime Video), “Very Ralph” – Best Original Music/Lyrics (Brian Keane Music, Inc./HBO), “Okavango – River of Dreams” Documentary – Nature & Wildlife (Terra Mater Factual Studios GmbH), and “Apollo: Missions to the Moon” Documentary – Science & Technology (1895 Films/National Geographic)
Al Jazeera English, Qatar earned Broadcaster of the Year Award and The Edge Picture Company, UK, earned Production Company of the Year Award.
This year, New York Festivals welcomes a new partner JusticeAid and the Democracy 2020 Youth Film Challenge. The Gold, Silver, and Bronze Prize winners awarded by JusticeAid will receive complimentary entry into the 2021 New York Festivals TV & Film Awards Social Justice Student Category. Award winners will be honored at New York Festivals Storyteller’s Gala taking place at the annual NAB Show in Las Vegas.
The deadline to enter the 2021 Television & Film Awards competition is October 15, 2020.
