MENA’s first dedicated broadcast specialist further strengthens team as part of ongoing expansion
The region’s leading broadcast specialist communications consultancy markettiers have announced the appointment of their first Managing Director, promoting General Manager Cheryl King to the position, after a year of unprecedented growth.
Having been based in the region since markettiers MENA was established in October 2014, Cheryl has used her 12 years of experience in the PR and comms field (five of which were in the London office of markettiers, before making the move to the UAE to set up the regional operation) to lead the agency as it champions the power of broadcast in achieving the communications objectives of brands in the region, with content at the heart of many campaigns.
From overseeing the delivery of the region’s first live streamed broadcast via LinkedIn back in 2015, in the past six months alone, Cheryl has led the team in delivering three Guinness World Records. This included coordinating the logistical behemoth of a crew numbering in excess of 50 to deliver worldwide coverage of Ras al Khaimah’s New Year’s fireworks display, during which the largest single aerial firework ever was launched into the skies over Al Marjan Island.
As she has fostered the business and team, which has more than doubled in size over the past 9 months, recognition has also been garnered from industry bodies. As Bronze award winners in 2016, last December (2017) the team were delighted to be presented with the Gold MEPRA Award for Best Use of Digital PR, for DMCC’s Made for Trade Live campaign, followed closely by the PRCA MENA Award for Results on a Budget, for IMG Worlds of Adventure’s Dubai Summer Surprises campaign.
The office now boasts on site production and editing facilities, as well as having a talent pool of producers, journalists and PR professionals to help craft and distribute video content that helps brands tell their story.
Commenting on her appointment Cheryl commented: “Even in the relatively short time I have been in the region, the media landscape has changed dramatically. Clients are now realising the potential that video offers, and it’s been fantastic to harness this power to enable clients to reach core and new audiences in innovative ways.
“I’m very excited to have the opportunity to further drive the growth of the operation, and to work with a team of talented individuals who are helping the region to shape its future and growth in digital.”
Howard Kosky, CEO of markettiers4dc Group, added: “I am delighted to give Cheryl the recognition she deserves in this way. She has selflessly driven the growth of the business to become the ever-growing force it is in the market, and we look forward to continuing to support Cheryl as she continues to build upon her success to date.”
