CNN Arabic launches CNN-e7 internship program

Partners with UAE’s Promise of a Generation initiative to empower young women

CNN Arabic, a leading broadcast Arabic news provider in the Middle East, has partnered with Promise of a Generation (POAG) to launch the CNN-e7 internship program. POAG is a UAE-based community network whose flagship program – e7 Daughters of the Emirates – equips young women aged 18 to 25 with the skills to unlock their potential and positively impact their communities.

The CNN-e7 annual internship, which will take place in CNN Arabic’s Dubai bureau, has been developed in an effort to support POAG’s vision of creating a generation of socially responsible women.

Following a rigorous application process, every year 35 participants – 70% Emirati and 30% long-term residents from the seven emirates – are selected to participate in the e7 Daughters of the Emirates program and benefit from ongoing learning opportunities.

Applications for the CNN-e7 internship are reviewed directly by the leaders of CNN Arabic, who will interview short-listed candidates in the testing process. Chosen candidates will get a chance to gain valuable hands-on experience with world affairs and an opportunity to learn from experienced CNN professionals.

Caroline Faraj, VP of Arabic Services for CNN, said, “Our region has talented young women and it is in our interest to identify them and offer them an opportunity to intern with CNN. We are excited to welcome the e7 interns and are proud to be able to offer this opportunity as it diversifies our workplace and allows us to play an active role in the enrichment of the community.”

POAG co-founder and co-visionary of e7, Adela Acevedo-Sarna, said, “We are thrilled to partner with CNN Arabic in our vision toward an improved future for the next generation of female leaders in the UAE. The annual internship opportunity with CNN is a great stepping stone for participants, providing valuable experience and unparalleled insights into world affairs. A major pillar in this initiative is to involve our wider community in creating a positive impact among our communities aligned with the UAE’s vision and strategic objectives.”

The launch of CNN Arabic in 2002 has enhanced the organization’s presence in the region and grown to produce broadcast feature shows locally while also covering regional news.
