Qatar Airways Goes Pink in Support of Breast Cancer Awareness Month

Airline provides exclusive ‘Think Pink’ experience on board and in HIA lounges

Limited edition BRIC’S amenity kits are currently offered on all long-haul and ultra-long-haul flights throughout October

To mark Qatar Airways’ continuous support for Breast Cancer Awareness Month, passengers are being offered an exclusive ‘Think Pink’ experience in the sky as well in Hamad International Airport (HIA) lounges, including custom-designed limited-edition BRIC’S amenity kits and pink-themed special menus.

Designed by Qatar Airways in collaboration with  the stylish Italian luggage brand – BRIC’S, the limited-edition amenity kits are made from vegan leather and are offered in two different designs – a pink and white kit for female passengers, and a black kit for male passengers, both with the iconic breast cancer ribbon prints. Each kit includes products from Italy’s Castello Monte Vibiano Vecchio, the environmentally friendly olive oil company, including lip balm, hydrating facial mist, and anti-ageing moisturiser in special limited edition ‘pink’ branding.

On flights departing from Doha, passengers travelling in First Class and Business Class are offered a refreshing pink mocktail, a special ‘Think Pink’ menu featuring a themed afternoon tea, and desserts featuring the iconic breast cancer ribbon made from sugar paste. Economy Class passengers are served an exclusive pink-themed cheesecake and offered the limited-edition breast cancer awareness amenity kit on select long-haul and ultra-long-haul flights.

Qatar Airways Group Chief Executive, His Excellency Mr. Akbar Al Baker, said: “We are dedicated to raising awareness for breast cancer. This month is a reminder of the challenges that members of our Qatar Airways family have had to face, and the importance of support we provide for those diagnosed and in recovery, as we fight together to overcome this disease.

“We value the health of our passengers and women world-wide, and are proud to demonstrate our commitment by raising awareness of the importance of self-assessment during our annual support for Breast Cancer Awareness Month.”

At HIA, passengers can indulge in a unique ‘Think Pink’ experience at both Al Safwa First Lounge and Al Mourjan Business Lounge, which consists of bespoke signature ‘Pink Berry’ mocktail, a ruby hot chocolate topped with pink marshmallows and a ‘pink themed’ afternoon tea assortment that includes delicious finger sandwiches, scones and pastries.

A multiple award-winning airline, Qatar Airways was announced as the ‘Airline of the Year’ at the 2021 World Airline Awards, managed by the international air transport rating organisation, Skytrax. It was also named ‘World’s Best Business Class’, ‘World’s Best Business Class Airline Lounge’, ‘World’s Best Business Class Airline Seat’, ‘World’s Best Business Class Onboard Catering’ and ‘Best Airline in the Middle East’. The airline continues to stand alone at the top of the industry having now won the main prize for an unprecedented sixth time (2011, 2012, 2015, 2017, 2019 and now 2021). The airline’s hub, HIA, was recently recognised as the ‘Best Airport in the World 2021’, by the Skytrax World Airport Awards 2021.

In addition to this, Qatar Airways has become the first global airline to achieve the prestigious 5-Star COVID-19 Airline Safety Rating by Skytrax.

This follows the success of HIA as the first airport in the Middle East and Asia to be awarded a Skytrax 5-Star COVID-19 Airport Safety Rating. These awards provide assurance to passengers across the world that the airline’s health and safety standards are subject to the highest possible standards of professional, independent scrutiny and assessment.
