Sunday Times names MEC 100 Best Small Companies to Work For 2016

Agency wins the Special Award for Wellbeing

MEC has made it into the Sunday Times 100 Best Small Companies to Work For 2016, for the sixth consecutive year.

MEC secured 68th place in the list this year and competed against over 4,500 companies, which applied to take part in the contest.  It performed best in the overall category of Giving Something Back (33/100), followed closely by Personal Growth (34/100).

MEC UK was also awarded one of the 7 Sunday Times Special Awards for its Wellbeing programme.  These Special awards ‘recognise this year’s outstanding innovators, who bring the best out of their staff’ as the Sunday Times write up states. It recognised the positive effects of the company’s staff initiatives including its annual Summer Away Day, when all its UK staff take part in a major community outreach project. This year it was Knead and Feed, when 500 of its staff took over a rugby stadium and cooked enough meals to feed 5000 vulnerable people in London.

The piece also mentions its Summer Friday early finishes, Sabbaticals, Smarter Working, Thrive fund and generous holiday entitlements. Also recognised is its award-winning employee benefits scheme My Perks, the MEC Foodbank, TeaMEC, its dedicated fundraising team, and all the other benefits such as flexible hours and gym membership that MEC staff receive.

MEC UK’s managing director Sarah Hennessy, said: “It’s fantastic to be recognised in this prestigious list for the sixth year in a row. This is a testament to the commitment MEC places on the development of its people and creating a strong culture and working environment in which they can thrive.”

Clare Alger, MEC’s Director of People and Culture, said: “We’re delighted with the results this year. Not only have we recognised with the Special Award for Wellbeing, but we also ranked an excellent #22 to the individual question ‘the job is good for employee’s personal growth and offers valuable experience for their future’.  In addition, eighty-three per cent of us think we have fun with colleagues, which shows what a strong culture we have here at MEC.”
