Galaxy®, the lead chocolate brand of Mars in the GCC, announced today its Ramadan campaign in collaboration with local UAE charity Bait Al Khair Society offering 15,000 Iftar meals during the Holy Month of Ramadan. The campaign was launched at an official signing ceremony at Mars Headquarters in Jebel Ali.
Mars GCC will fund this initiative through allocating a percentage of sales of the Galaxy® Milk, Galaxy® Minis and Jewels™ packs sold throughout the UAE in Ramadan. Mars Associates will support this initiative by serving meals at selected Iftar tents, as part of the Mars Volunteer Program (MVP).
Commenting on the initiative, Rouba Chalabi, the Vice President of Corporate Affairs for MARS in the Middle East, Turkey and Africa said: “Mars is a principles based business: we live by the Mars Five Principles of Quality, Responsibility, Mutuality, Efficiency and Freedom, which are the foundation of our culture and our approach to business – we strongly believe in giving back to the communities in which we are at home.”
“Guided by our Principles, we chose the right partner for this project: Bait al Khair Society shares and lives by many of our Principles, working to proactively alleviate poverty in the UAE for over two decades. We are honored to be part of their mission to bring joy and happiness to communities and families during the Holy Month of Ramadan.”
Throughout the world, Mars is committed to making a difference in the communities in which we operate. In addition, as individuals, Mars associates also contribute to helping local communities to deliver mutual benefits, through the MARS Volunteer Program (MVP). In 2014, the MVP provided 85,418 hours of 21,422 volunteers’ time across different projects, impacting 85,000 people and 28,000 pets.
