Used Car Rally Revs Up for Charity

Carmudi, the easiest way to buy or sell your car online, is delighted to announce a sponsorship deal with Team 77 Getriebesand, a group taking part in the Algau-Orient Rallye. One of the last affordable automobile adventures of the world, the used-car rally from Germany to Jordan is an adventure designed to create positive change. The 77 Getriebesand, a team of six car enthusiasts led by Lukasz Wiacek, took off on an exciting three week adventure which concludes with the winner receiving a camel, that they then donate to a Bedouin family.

Ramy Mrad, Managing Director of Carmudi UAE, commented, “We are very excited about this sponsorship deal. The Algau-Orient Rallye is a fun and charitable race event that also ties with our values”.

The rally kicked off 10th May from Allgau in Germany, and within the next three weeks Team 77 Getriebesand will battle the elements across Europe to make their way to Jordan in cars that are worth less than AED 4551.77  and are usually 20 years old. To make things more interesting, use of freeways and GPS are both prohibited. They are to spend as little money as possible throughout the trip, including on any accommodations during the night.

One of the greatest challenges came about before the Rally even started: finding a suitable car. Wiascek told us “The quest to find the perfect cars was fun. Land Rovers, VW Buses, and so much more nice cars to dream of. You can easily get them for less than AED 4551.77, but they don’t get you to Jordan.”

Istanbul is the first checkpoint. Wiacek and his team will need to arrive there within the first five days. However, they will first take a small detour and pass through Albania to visit and show support to an orphan children’s home.

In the past, this rally has raised aid money for underprivileged families and raised scholarship money for university students. The closing ceremony features HRH Prince Hussein of Jordan awarding the winners of the rally.

To stay tuned into Team 77 Getriebesand’s epic journey, make sure you visit Carmudi’s journal, where Wiacek and his team will be posting blogs on their adventures.
