IKEA wins Consumer Friendliness Index Award

Retailer honoured by Department of Economic Development

Retail furnishing brand IKEA, part of the Al-Futtaim group have been awarded by the Dubai Department of Economic Development as a result of the Consumer Friendliness Index exercise conducted earlier this year.

The award, which was handed out by His Highness Sheikh Mansour bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum – President of Dubai International Marine Club, was received by Mr. Paul Delaoutre, President – Retail, Al-Futtaim at a ceremony at Grand Hyatt, Dubai this week.

The Consumer Friendliness Index assessed companies across the United Arab Emirates. The process included an online survey completed by residents of Dubai as well as an overall score given by the Department of Economic Development. This score was a combination of consumer rating of the retailer, customer complaints received about the retailer and the retailer’s fairness in pricing.

John Kersten, Managing Director – IKEA UAE, Qatar, Egypt and Oman said, “IKEA is built around the principle of creatingabetter everyday life for the many people. Therefore it is in our DNA to be consumer friendly and helpful. All our products go through strict quality control during the manufacturing process to ensure safe, quality products for our consumers. Through a continuous process of learning and adapting, we are very happy to see our efforts valued and appreciated by the Department of Economic Development and consumers in general. We hope to keep surprising, inspiring and helping the people in the UAE, as we have aimed for in the past.”
