Speaking at the Qatar Motor Show, Thomas Milz, Managing Director, Volkswagen Middle East, said: “The Jetta is now powerful than ever before with a 2.5L engine and completes the 0-100 km/h sprint in just 9.0 seconds – a full 3.6 faster than the previous model. The new Jetta sports a mature shape with an elegant yet sporty design and, with fuel consumption of 7.1l/100km, we hope to offer better value and an economical drive experience to our customers.”
The Jetta is one of the world’s most successful sedans and the new generation of the sporty sedan enjoys an extensively redesigned front and rear, with a more sophisticated interior. The interior boasts a more grown up feel with a refined leatherette finish and multi-function leather-wrapped steering wheel and decorative aluminium inserts. The technological upgrade features a parking distance control, rear view camera “rear assist” and a “Climatronic” air-conditioning system which uses an air quality sensor.
The Jetta is now more powerful with a 2.5L petrol engine, producing 125kW/170 HP, in addition to a 6-speed automatic transmission gearbox. With a fuel consumption of 7.1l/100km, the Jetta propels from 0-100 km/h in 9.0 seconds and is available in two model configurations – Jetta SE and Jetta SEL.The starting price of the new Jetta with the more powerful 2.5L engine is 22,900 USD.
Speaking about the dynamic concept cars, Milz said “Over the past 18 months, the motoring enthusiasts across the region have been gripped by the Golf line-up and this year at the Qatar Motor Show, we are excited to present the dynamic concept cars – Golf R 400 and GTI Roadster. The Golf R 400 is the sharpest production Golf ever and one of themost agile sports cars in its class, whereas with the GTI Roadster,Volkswagen is erasing the boundariesbetween the virtual and real worlds.`
The extremely sporty car, Golf R 400 concept, developed by Volkswagen R GmbH, shows its power in its name – 400 HP (294 kW). Powered by a 2.0 TSI engine, whose technical genes stem from the Polo WRC racing engine, the Golf is catapulted from zero to 100 km/h in 3.9 seconds. The top speed is 280 km/h, and the maximum torque of 450 Newton metres is available starting at 2,400 rpm. The extremely dynamic Golf R 400 is perfect in every detail: its engine, its permanent 4-wheel-drive system 4MOTION and its sport suspension, as well as its body that has been redesigned to a large extent. The Golf R 400 is painted in “Silver Flake”, which is contrasted by the roof in glossy black and mirror caps in real carbon fibre.
With the GTI Roadster concept, Volkswagen has transferred the virtual world into a reality. Originally created as a purely computer-generated car in bits and bytes for the PlayStation®3 classic “Gran Turismo 6” (“GT6” developed by Polyphony Digital Inc.): the “GTIRoadster, Vision Gran Turismo” is now a reality. The two-seat convertible is powered by a 3.0L V6 biturbo engine that produces a power of 370 kW / 503 HP. The V6 TSI develops a maximum torque of 560 Nm between 4,000 and 6,000 rpm; 500 Nm of that torque is already available at 2,000 rpm in the direct-injection petrol engine. The enormous power of the TSI is transferred to the 20-inch wheel-tyre combination via a 7-speed dual-clutch gearbox (DSG) and all-wheel drive system (4MOTION). The lightweight 1420 kg super sports car reaches 100 km/h in 3.6 seconds. V/max: 309 km/h!
