Bacardi has promoted Dmitry Ivanov to the role of chief marketing officer and president of Bacardi Global Brands, the body which provides marketing services for the company’s portfolio of spirits.
Former Red Bull marketer Ivanov, most recently vice-president, global category director of rums, will be responsible for the delivery of Bacardi’s global marketing plan, including brand equity, positioning and strategic direction on innovation.
In his previous role, he oversaw the launch of Bacardi’s most recent global marketing campaign, ‘Untameable Since 1862’. He joined Bacardi in 2005 as marketing director for Russia.
Ivanov replaces Andy Gibson, who joined from Australia-based Carlton United Brewers in 2013, and will leave in March to ensure a “smooth transition”.
He will report to Bacardi’s newly-appointed chief executive Mike Dolan, and continue to be based in London.
“With 20 years in consumer marketing roles, and eight years with Bacardi,Ivanov knows our brands and what it takes to successfully market premium consumer goods. Having led the largest market within Europe, he also brings a perspective of what countries need from a CMO in order to execute brand ideas successfully,” said Dolan.
Ivanov’s proven track record of accomplishment is based on great leadership skills, marketing excellence, and a consistent track record within the Bacardi organisation.”
