J. Walter Thompson network ranked #2 at MENA Effies 2017

Teams brought home 2 Gold, 5 Silver and 2 Bronze awards for 6 clients across 8 categories 

The J. Walter Thompson network in MENA ranked second overall at the MENA Effies show in Dubai on 15 November. Teams from Cairo, Casablanca and Saudi Arabia netted a total of two Gold, five Silver and two Bronze awards, for six individual clients, across eight separate award categories.

The MENA Effie recognisesideas that work,by delivering on marketing effectiveness through clear and measurable third-party results.

J. Walter Thompson Casablanca landed a Gold in the Social Good Corporate Brands category with “Flawlessness””, for its client, Enti.ma.  Released on the International Day for the Elimination of Violence Against Women, the campaign’s viral video offers to teach women how to remove makeup without damaging their skin, slowly revealing dark bruises lying beneath, therefore encouraging victims of domestic violence in Morocco to speak up. 

J. Walter Thompson Cairo’s “Rebounding for Inbounding”” campaign for Egypt Tourism Authority (ETA) earned a Gold in the Travel, Tourism and Transportation category, as well as a Silver in the newly launched Renaissance category. Breaking the norms of traditional campaigns that promote a country as a touristic destination, the campaign segmented Egypt into multiple destinations, each offering a unique experience adapted to travelers’ diversified interests.

The Cairo team also brought home a Silver in Travel, Tourism and Transportation for “Owning Egypt’s Streets” for their client Careem;  a Silver in the Electronics category for Miraco Carrier’s “Who’s The Expert Now!”;  and a Bronze in the Youth Marketing – Teens and Adults category for Chiclets “The Talking Pack””.

J. Walter Thompson Saudi Arabia stood out at the award ceremony, being the only agency from the kingdom to be recognised with metal. The team earned two Silver MENA Effie awards for Saudi Telecom Company (STC): one in the Brand Experience category, and another in the Telecommunications, Mobile and Internet category, both for the”Unveil Saudi” campaign; as well as a Bronze award in the Media Partnership Activation category for STC’s “National Heroes” campaign.
